An emergency call was recieved from Amtek that a laptop would not boot. Aspden IT was there within the hour, unfortunately diagnostics confirmed it was a hard disk issue.

Not to worry though, the important files were all safe on the file server.

We ordered a replacement laptop there and then which would be onsite within 24hrs. We took the old laptop and performed data recovery on the drive, finding old family photos long since forgotten about and some accidently placed work documents. Subsequently we securely erased the hard disk,because this was to be recycled.

We installed the new system the next day, joined the server to the domain, installed all essential software from the software distribution folder where we keep customised silent installs and the client was back in business.

Because the client could still access his email via Outlook Web Access and because his files were on the server, the impact on their business was minimal.

Utilising customised versions of Windows XP Pro, installations were simplified. All Drivers were sourced immediately and updates are managed through a centralised patch management strategy, saving bandwidth and ensuring a consistent stable platform
